EST Nutrition Spirodrene

EST Nutrition is your average body building site peddling its goods amidst oiled down and muscular bodies and lots of claims.  (Not that there’s anything wrong with oiled down and muscular bodies.  Sigh.)

Here is what EST has to say about Spirodrene:

  • One-Dose, Pharmaceutical-Grade Technology!
  • Sustained release formula!
  • Ramp up your metabolism!
  • Get insane energy!
  • Enjoy the immediate results through Spirodrene’s multi-pathways!

The problem being EST doesn’t explain how they deliver these results.

I can see how you’d get “insane energy.”  This product is chock full of stimulants.  So much so that its name should really be STIMODRENE.  Yeah–that’s a much better name.

I understand that the stimulants will raise your metabolic rate–and that “one dose” will probably be enough to do so.

What I don’t get is the time-release technology that took “three years of research and development” to create, or the “immediate results through multi-pathways” claim–BECAUSE THEY DON’T EXPLAIN!

There is no clinical evidence to back any of this up.

It’s what I like to call a bunch of “hoo-ha.”  (Yes, that’s a technical term.)

Spirodrene by EST Nutrition Ingredients

Spirodrene’s ingredients are delivered in a 5,800 mg proprietary blend.  That’s insanely high for a diet pill, but it still doesn’t mean it’s any good.  I make huge batches of soup to feed my huge teenage sons, but it doesn’t mean it’s any good (I’m a notoriously bad cook.)

Blends hide secrets.  Like ineffective quantities of the good ingredients and unnecessarily high amounts of the ‘just okay’ ones.

Here is what’s in it:

  • Caffeine-you all know about caffeine.  It raises your metabolic rate and gives you energy–until you crash.  I’m betting this inexpensive ingredient is awash in this blend.
  • White Ginseng-may have a metabolic effect on the nervous system and strengthen your immune system.
  • Dimethylpentylamine-raises metabolic rate.
  • Red Tea-thought to cleanse your body and have a diuretic effect.  Also touted as an appetite suppressant.
  • Di-caffeine malate-a form of caffeine for metabolic rate.
  • Theobromine-another form of caffeine, this one found in chocolate.  Not only raises metabolic rate, but also improves mood–as does chocolate.
  • Methyl Synephrine-finally a great ingredient!  Synephrine is the safe alternative to famous ephedra, raising metabolism and thermogenesis without negatively effecting the nervous or cardiovascular systems.
  • Yohimbine HCL-tricks certain receptors to release fatty acids from fat cells to be burned as energy.  This way you’re getting rid of stored fat and using it to raise metabolic rate.  Not without harmful side effects including excessive water retention.
  • Stearic acid-a naturally occurring fatty acid-no evidence it helps with weight loss.
  • Magnesium Stearate-a filling agent commonly used in diet pills. Won’t contribute to weight loss.

There’s nothing in this that’s clinically proven to raise metabolism, burn fat or suppress appetite outside of caffeine and synephrine.  This is a pretty “ho-hum” formula (another technical term.)

Spirodrene by EST Nutrition Side Effects

Side effects associated with Spirodrene will come from the influx of caffeine!  Expect raised heart rate, the jitters, headaches, restlessness, irritability and even insomnia.  I can’t see how this formula expects to “time release” either.  I would fully anticipate a CRASH!

Does Spirodrene by EST Nutrition Work Well Enough to Buy?

Well, Spirodrene is relatively inexpensive at around $26 a bottle (shop around for the cheapest price.)  But despite stating their product is “guaranteed or your money back”, EST Nutrition doesn’t actually provide refund information on their website.

If you try it–you buy it.

I did research non-bias reviews from outside the official website, and the general consensus for Spirodrene was “okay but not great.”

Do you want to spend your money on something “blee”?  I didn’t think so.

And yes, that’s another technical term…
