In the late 1990’s and the early 2000’s the majority of weight loss pills contained Ephedra. Many dieters claimed big weight loss and Ephedra’s popularity soared. However, there began to be more and more reports of terrible side effects and health issues (even a few deaths) from Ephedra users.
This resulted in the FDA banning Ephedra from the market in 2004. Although Ephedra is illegal in the United States, it is still available overseas and is rumored to have been smuggled into the states.
Can Ephedra help you lose weight?
Many users have claimed big weight loss with Ephedra. Others have been greatly disappointed. The science is mixed on Ephedra’s effectiveness. A clinical trial showed that Ephedra helped the average user lose 1 more pound per month over the placebo. 1 pound a month is nothing substantial, but it is better than nothing.
Another study was not as promising. The FDA conducted their own study that showed that although Ephedra can produce some short term weight loss benefits, there is no evidence indicating Ephedra’s ability to produce long term weight loss.
Ephedra may be able to help with weight loss, but we wouldn’t expect anything substantial especially when there are no studies indicating long term weight loss.

Do Weight Loss Pills with Ephedra work well enough to buy?
Any diet pill banned by the FDA for health concerns is not worth purchasing especially considering there are effective diet pills out there without dangerous ephedra. Ephedra has been associated with such serious side effects as strokes and death.
Weight loss pills with Ephedra are illegal for purchase in the United States. Many dieters claim they have been able to purchase Ephedra weight loss pills in Mexico (and have smuggled some into the States). If you are looking to purchase Ephedra weight loss pills in Mexico, keep in mind that there are counterfeit Ephedra diet pills that really don’t contain Ephedra.
